Social media, mobile phones, and the Borg... A human evolution?

Locutusofborg2367

As I look out over the landscape I can’t help but notice we might be evolving into another lifeform...  The Borg.  The ability to communicate around the world in real time with as many people that are willing to listen is incredible.  FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter, texting, IM, mobile calls, emails... zzzt zzz zzzt (electronic) snap!  I think this will continue to evolve in as many different ways as the human psyche is different (this could get even more scary people).  But the fact that we can communicate what we want with anyone we want from anywhere (literally) is truly amazing...  I know we’ve all incorporated this into the routine of our modern lives but think what would happen if you handed Caesar an iPhone...  It would blow his mind.    But I wonder with all this being ‘connected’ if there will be a breaking down of the things that define our individuality... Our languages, cultures, music, and traditions.  Will we loose our beautiful shades of color and evolve into the one all-knowing shapeless consciousness that is the Borg?  Only time will tell.
